All About The Amazing Race Asia
I just realised that TAR Asia doesn't have quotes for its episode titles, so I shall come up with my own. :D I was busy watching with family to pay proper attention last night, so this is me paraphrasing to the best of my recollection, but anyway, let's talk about the ep!
What do you think?
The official recap is already up at AXN's site
How bummed was I that both my favourite and least favourite teams were at the bottom two? Also, damn you pre-something something non-elimination round! If I don't have to endure Monica and Edwin (aka Team CBC - Canadian-Born Chinese; ok ok, that's 50% untrue... but I won't let facts stand in my way!!) it won't be a moment too soon. They're shaping up to be TAR Asia's Jon and Victoria, which is so completely tiresome. Henry and Terri (aka Team US Navy) bicker too, but somehow theirs amuses me. Henry by the way, should get mad props for the amount of patience and good humour he has in dealing with his wife (though that random car tyre he kicked in Manila probably won't thank him anytime soon. XDXD).
Aurelia (the French girl) amuses me too (All Aurelia, All The Time!), but it's pretty obvious Sophie wishes that she could strangle her sometimes. That said, Sophie my darling, for the love of a Higher Being, PLEASE LAY OFF THE MAKEUP. Why must anyone go through life looking like a tranny on a bad day?!
It's pretty obvious that just like last season, the racers are very well acquainted with the TAR setup, like Marc & Rovilson's (aka Team Hunk; they're not as off-putting as India's Team Jock of last year, so I shall give them a pass for now) mantra about taxi drivers, and the racers tendency to scurry off some place once they've got their clues so as to not to give away the location and themselves (the funniest bit of this is at Manila, when Team Dancing Mums (Ann & Diane) were at the Promenade, in the rain. Ann was holding a tarp over herself, arms wide, and the moment they got the clue, "HIDE!!" and, and, and, the whole thing was so Darkwing Duck I had to LOL).
The next best bit was the balut face-off between Pam & Vanessa and Marc & Rovilson. Hahaha, the Filipino boys got trounced by the Malaysian girls (from where I took the episode title). I liked that the girls genuinely enjoyed it, or at least they seem to be. But on the whole, I never really enjoyed eating challenges when vomiting is not too far off. Question: is 8 balut eggs too much for a sitting? I assume so, because that's always been TAR's MO in regards to eating challenges.
Anyway, that's all for now. I'll probably add more when I remember or after I catch a rerun. :D
And I found the Racers Revealed ep on Youtube. Awesome! Much thanks to the kind person hosting it. :D I wonder if there's ever any plans to release DVDs of the show....
